Description

Lead(II) Nitrate Pure is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Pb(NO₃)₂ and an assay of 99.0%. It is identified by CAS No. 10099-74-8 and EC No. 233-245-9, and is classified under UN Number UN1469, Packing Group II, within UN Class 5.1 (6.1) as an oxidising toxic substance. This material carries the hazard statements H360Df (may damage fertility or the unborn child), H332 (harmful if inhaled), H302 (harmful if swallowed), H373 (may cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure), and H410 (very toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects). Due to these hazards, strict precautions must be followed, including obtaining special instructions before use (P201), keeping away from heat and combustible materials (P210 and P220), wearing protective gloves and eye/face protection (P280), and seeking immediate medical attention in the event of exposure, especially eye contact (P305+P351+P338+P310). If exposure is suspected, medical advice should also be sought (P308+P313). Lead(II) Nitrate Pure is commonly used in laboratory and industrial applications, particularly in chemical synthesis and analytical chemistry, but must be handled with extreme care due to its toxicity and oxidising properties.
