Meet Rebecca Demery , Key Account Manager

Get to know more about the ESPO Early Years team by meeting Rebecca Demery, one of our Key Account Managers!

Tell us a bit about your role at ESPO Early Years

As a Key Account Manager, I spend my time working with early years settings to understand how they operate and what they need most. Whether I’m working with existing customers or getting to know new settings, my focus is on building strong relationships and making procurement as straightforward as possible.

What did you get up to before joining the team?

In my previous career I have been in and out of early years settings in a number of different capacities.

I’m Level 3 qualified, worked in nurseries, ran my own recruitment agency supplying staff to settings, and also assessed Level 2 and 3 childcare students when in placement. I love being able to use all this hands-on experience in my role now.

What’s on the top of your to-do list for the next few weeks?

At the moment, my focus is on getting out and about to meet customers, introducing myself over the phone, and attending events so I can connect with as many settings as possible. Basically putting faces to names and making sure my customers know where I am.

How do you like to start your working day?

I always start the day with a coffee, then take some time to review where I’m up to and plan out my priorities. I’ll normally have a call with my team early on to catch up and chat about the day ahead.

What is the highlight of your role?

The absolute best part of my role is working with people. I love the variety too, being out and about visiting settings, attending events, and generally having a good chat with others in the sector!

What is your favourite Early Years product/category/collection and why?

l love small world and storytelling resources, like figures and themed playsets. I’ve used these with my own children to bring stories to life and help develop a love of reading and storytelling, really great for sparking imagination and also building on those essential language and communication skills.

Your favourite motto:

Hakuna Matata – meaning No worries in Swahili "

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

I love dog walking, exploring the countryside and pitching up in my ancient van, and spending quality time with family. Simple things, but they keep me happy!
