Customer update: Product Issue – Coloured Sand from Habico – product codes: 60038, 277363, 233439 & 06760
A product recall for certain coloured sand products purchased on or after 01 June 2023 has been issued after testing identified asbestos within the sand. The products have been withdrawn from sale and are being recalled.
The product codes include:

Coloured Craft Sand: 60038, set of 8 x 350g

Coloured Craft Sand: 277363, set of 20 x 350g
-
Pastels Sand: 233439, set of 6 x 350g
-
Fluorescent Craft Sand: 06760, set of 6 x 350g
These products are not manufactured by ESPO. The supplier has been instructed by Trading Standards to recall it from the market as an independent test sample showed levels of asbestos. If you have purchased this product from ESPO, you can return it to us and we will arrange a full refund for you.
We would like to reassure customers who have bought this product that the exposure risk level is very low. However, the current UK Health and Security Agency guidance for asbestos is zero tolerance, therefore, we are asking our customers to stop using these products immediately and follow the instructions below.
Government guidance advises that where affected sand has been used:

Clean affected areas using damp or wet cloths to avoid generating dust.

Wear disposable gloves and a suitable face mask during clean-up (i.e. disposable respirator to standards EN 149 (type FFP3).

Double-bag any recovered sand, cleaning materials and disposable PPE.

Restrict access to the area until cleaning has been completed
To receive a full refund, please follow the below steps:

Stop using the product immediately.

Keep the product out of the reach of children and other users.

For unused product, or where it is in its original packaging, place the product in a plastic bag (double bag) or suitable sealed container and store it safely pending return to ESPO.

For used products, follow the government guidance stated above before completing step five of this process.
