Take the Active Schools Challenge – summer term competition now open

Published on 03/05/2018

We want you to tell us some of the inspiring ways your school is getting active, and we’ve got 3 great prizes to give away this summer term.

You could win:

  • The winner will receive a Youth Sport Trust Athlete Mentor Visit (1.5 day workshop) - a professional athlete will visit your school and run activity days, sport sessions and inspirational talks to inspire your pupils and staff.
  • Two runners-up will each receive a Youth Sport Direct Product Bundle worth over £450

How to enter

Register on our Active Schools Partnership website and visit the competition page to download your entry form.

Choose from one of the four categories below and complete the entry form demonstrating how you're encouraging activity or improvements in this area. Entries can focus on your school as a whole or the work of an inspiring individual within it.

You could look to demonstrate how your initiative helps to promote physical activity, teamwork, inclusion, communication or confidence. You can support your entry with photos or videos if you wish. The closing date for this competition is Friday 29 June 2018.

Categories

  • Active lessons: An innovative example of how a subject traditionally taught indoors and stationary has been turned into an active lesson. Whether it’s indoors or outdoors, if you get your kids moving whilst learning, we want to hear about it.

  • PE performance: Share an example of how your PE lessons have been improved or made more inclusive. This could be through the passion and direction of a teacher, additional training being put into practice, new equipment being used or perhaps access to a new facility.

  • Whole school movers: Does your school go above and beyond to encourage activity as much as possible? Tell us about the different ways you encourage activity throughout the school day and the benefits you think this has on your pupils.

  • After school success: Tell us about a club or after school activity that is helping to keep kids off the sofa and moving their feet. This could be a new activity or a long established club that has been running for years – tell us why you think it’s special.
