Coronavirus - FAQs for ESPO customers

Is ESPO open for business as usual?

Given the evolving picture on UK measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus we wanted to assure you that we are fully operational and available to fulfil orders.

Our office and warehouse have adopted all necessary social distancing measures and the ESPO site has been officially signed off as a 'Covid-Secure' workplace in line with the latest government guidance. Our current opening hours are 09:00 – 16:00. If you would like to get in touch, please call us on 0116 265 7901 or you can email c.services@espo.org. We also encourage customers to use our online ordering site where possible to gain access to our full range.

What is ESPO’s stock availability?

We are pleased to share that stock levels for items not directly affected by the coronavirus situation remain good with almost 10,000 items available for immediate delivery.

Understandably we are experiencing shortages on some items due to unprecedented demand including PPE, cleaning materials and hygiene related products. However we continue to receive deliveries of these items on a regular basis and so our availability on these products is continually improving.

If an item is out of stock, delivery for this item will be made as soon as it becomes available.

What is the availability of PPE, cleaning and hygiene products?

Understandably we are experiencing shortages on some items due to unprecedented demand including PPE, cleaning materials and hygiene related products. However we continue to receive deliveries of these items on a regular basis and so our availability on these products is continually improving.

If you have an urgent requirement, we would advise you to contact our Customer Services team who will be able to assist with your request or suggest alternative options where relevant.

Please be aware that some PPE and cleaning items may have changed in price and/or pack size, from our published catalogue prices due to unprecedented demand in the market.

What is the difference between clinical and non-clinical PPE?

Clinical and non-clinical PPE mainly refers to our supply of face masks. At ESPO we sell a range of face masks, however the supply of clinical face masks is in very high demand across the marketplace. It is worth considering whether non-clinical face masks may be suitable for your needs. Customers are advised to check the product description carefully when deciding which product is suitable.

You can find the latest government advice regarding the usage of PPE here.

What products do you have available that will help my establishment return to work/opening?

We're working hard to provide you with the essential items you will need to start reopening. To help, we've put together a section on our website dedicated to products relating to the coronavirus pandemic. We're adding to this list all the time so be sure to check back regularly to see what new products have been made available.

How are ESPO deliveries affected?

Our fleet of Drivers are working hard to get the products you need delivered to you on time. Upon placing your order, you should receive this on your next standard delivery day, as long as your establishment is open and able to accept deliveries.

What are ESPO Drivers doing to ensure they are delivering safely and adhering to social distancing measures?

The safety or our staff and customers remain our highest priority. The ESPO site has been officially signed off as a 'Covid-Secure' workplace in line with the latest government guidance and all ESPO Drivers have been fully briefed and follow all relevant control measures in line with ESPO risk assessments. Each ESPO Driver is issued with hand sanitizer gel, which is regularly used throughout the day, as well as before and after each delivery. Please allow our Drivers to use handwashing facilities in line with HSE guidance.

During this time we have introduced a contactless delivery service meaning that Drivers will be observing social distancing measures and will not be required to obtain a signature for the delivery; they will instead record the recipient’s name for our records. Our Drivers are happy to take direction from you and so please let them know if you would like to request a change in your normal delivery habits. They will be happy to accommodate your request where it is safe to do so.

Please note, currently we do not advocate the use of masks by our Drivers in line with government advice.

How are Direct deliveries affected?

Direct deliveries are dispatched directly from our suppliers and can be identified by item codes beginning with a letter (e.g. A, N or X), and blue codes in our catalogues. Direct delivery items have their own individual lead times which will be stated on the page next to the product or on the website.

Please be aware that during this time some suppliers are experiencing longer than normal lead times. If you need an item urgently, we advise you to call our Directs team to discuss specific lead times before placing your order on 0116 2657901 – option 1.

The summer months are an extremely busy time for furniture deliveries and the sector has seen an even greater impact this year as manufacturers look to meet the additional challenges brought about by the pandemic. If you have ordered furniture items, you can help by ensuring that the contact and delivery details that you provide are up-to-date and correct. If you need to make changes to this please contact Directs team on 0116 2657901 – option 1.
